Eastern aspect of Pentillie Castle, facing the River Tamar. It was built around 1698 and extended on 1809. In 1966, three wings were demolished due to falling into disrepair. A short history of the estate can be found here ..... "fast cars" indeed!

The walk was approached by the main roads from Saltash, taking the A388 via Hatt, turning right at Paynter's Cross and into the estate after about 150 yards through the imposing entrance.
